Terms and Conditions for Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC  

Death Doula Services

1. Nature of Services  

Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC provides non medical end of life doula services. Services focus on emotional, spiritual, educational, and practical support for clients and their families. Services support, but do not replace, hospice, palliative care, medical treatment, legal advice, financial advice, or mental health treatment. You remain responsible for contacting licensed medical, legal, financial, and mental health professionals for diagnosis, treatment, and advice.

 

2. No Medical or Legal Services  

Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC does not provide medical care, nursing care, or any clinical services. No diagnosis, prescription, or medical treatment is offered. No legal, financial, or tax advice is provided. You agree not to treat any information shared during services as medical, legal, financial, or tax advice. You agree to consult your physicians, attorneys, financial advisors, or therapists before making health, legal, or financial decisions.

 

3. Scope and Limits of Support  

Services may include:  

-  Education about end of life options and resources  

-  Support with values clarification and care preferences  

-  Guidance with advance care planning discussions  

-  Non medical comfort measures within the doula’s training and scope  

-  Presence at bedside, as agreed in advance and subject to availability  

-  Emotional and spiritual support within the doula’s training and comfort  

-  Support for family members before and after a death, including grief resources  

 

Services do not include:  

-  Medical procedures, medication management, or symptom control  

-  Direct communication with healthcare providers on your behalf, except as agreed and within scope  

-  Transportation of clients  

-  Handling of the body after death, unless within local legal guidelines and agreed in writing  

-  Any activity that requires licensure the doula does not hold  

 

4. Client Responsibilities  

You agree to:  

-  Provide accurate, up to date information about your condition and needs  

-  Inform your healthcare providers that you are working with a death doula, if appropriate  

-  Maintain ongoing care with your healthcare team as needed  

-  Seek urgent or emergency medical care when required  

-  Treat the doula and any associates with respect and clear communication  

-  Inform Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC about safety concerns in the home or care setting  

 

You understand that your choices guide all planning. You retain full responsibility for your medical decisions and legal documents.

 

5. Fees, Payment, and Cancellations  

Service fees, packages, and payment methods are described in your separate service agreement or on your invoice. Payment terms and due dates follow that agreement.  

You agree to pay for all scheduled services according to the agreed fee schedule.  

Cancellations or changes to appointments must follow the cancellation policy in your service agreement. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be billed in full.  

Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC reserves the right to update pricing for future services with notice before new services are scheduled.

 

6. Emergency and Availability  

Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC does not provide emergency or on call medical coverage. Response times vary based on schedule and prior commitments. Bedside presence during active dying is offered as availability allows and is not guaranteed. In case of emergency, you agree to contact emergency services or your healthcare providers directly.

 

7. Confidentiality and Privacy  

Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC respects your privacy and treats personal information as confidential to the extent allowed by law. Information may be shared with those you identify as part of your care team, with your permission, to support your care.  

Exceptions to confidentiality include situations where disclosure is required by law, such as risk of serious harm to self or others, abuse, or court orders.  

Electronic communication, such as email, text, and video calls, has privacy risks. By using these methods, you accept those risks.

 

8. Use of Website and Online Content  

Information on the Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC website and related online content is for general education. Content does not create a doula client relationship and does not replace professional medical, legal, or mental health advice. You agree not to rely on website content for decisions about diagnosis, treatment, or legal matters without consulting qualified professionals.

 

9. Limitation of Liability  

You understand that end of life carries inherent risks and uncertainties. Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC does not promise specific outcomes or experiences.  

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC, its owners, employees, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from services or from your use of information provided.  

You agree to hold Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC harmless from claims, losses, or damages arising from your choices, actions, or omissions, or those of your healthcare team, family, or representatives.

 

10. No Guarantee of Availability or Continuity  

Services depend on the availability, health, and personal circumstances of the doula. Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC may, when possible, refer you to another doula or resource if services must be reduced or ended. Such referrals are not guaranteed. You remain responsible for arranging ongoing support through other providers as needed.

 

11. Intellectual Property  

Content on the Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC website, including text, images, logos, and materials shared in sessions or workshops, belongs to Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC or its licensors. You agree not to reproduce, distribute, or use this content for commercial purposes without written permission.

 

12. Termination of Services  

You may end services at any time by providing notice to Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC and by paying any outstanding balances.  

Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC may end services if:  

-  Boundaries or safety are not respected  

-  Fees are not paid  

-  Services are no longer appropriate or within scope  

-  There is a conflict of interest or other ethical concern  

 

When possible, you will receive referrals to other resources or providers.

 

13. Applicable Law and Dispute Resolution  

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute related to services or these Terms and Conditions will first be addressed through good faith discussion. If resolution is not achieved, the parties agree to consider mediation before other legal steps, unless urgent legal relief is required.

 

14. Changes to Terms and Conditions  

Journey’s End Cleveland, LLC may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Updated terms apply when posted on the website or provided to you before new services. Your continued use of services after changes signals agreement with the updated terms.
